This service-oriented hospital was the first facility in the county to offer digital mammography. Located in the center of the Florida peninsula Lake Wales has the highest elevation in the peninsular area, and therefore offers plenty of sun without the humidity of coastal communities. Lake Wales is a 90-minute drive from the Atlantic Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico and Disney World, and is known for its unique history and architecture, diverse accommodations, environmental, cultural and recreational attractions, and charming shops and restaurants. Fishing, boating, airboat rides, water skiing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, sky diving, golfing and tennis may be enjoyed year-round.
