Position Summary:
Wellstar Health Systems is seeking a highly skilled Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon to join our growing team in Augusta, GA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing expert surgical care for patients with complex orthopedic injuries resulting from trauma. This role involves collaboration with trauma surgeons, emergency medicine, and rehabilitation teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes from acute injury through recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform surgical management of acute orthopedic trauma injuries including fractures, dislocations, and soft tissue injuries. Evaluate and stabilize trauma patients in coordination with the trauma and emergency teams. Develop comprehensive treatment plans including surgical intervention and postoperative care. Participate in multidisciplinary trauma team rounds and contribute to trauma program development. Provide consultative services for orthopedic injuries across inpatient, emergency, and outpatient settings. Maintain meticulous clinical documentation and compliance with hospital and regulatory standards. Engage in trauma quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality reviews, and clinical research as appropriate. Provide education and mentorship to residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications:
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school. Board certification in Orthopedic Surgery. Fellowship training in Orthopedic Trauma Surgery preferred. Valid medical license or eligibility for licensure in Georgia. Demonstrated expertise in managing complex orthopedic trauma cases. Strong clinical judgment, decision-making, and communication skills.
