Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer, provides and manages direct health care for the clinic's patient population.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Examines, diagnoses, treats and/or refers patients assigned to physician's panel, prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions. 2. Maintains a problem-oriented health record for each patient seen in accordance with the Center's established policies and procedures to include providing appropriate and legible documentation. 3. Assures continuity of care by providing comprehensive medical services on a timely basis as per Clinic schedule within the Center's scope of practice and the provider's training. 4. Refers clients for appropriate specialty care services, lab and x-ray and any other ancillary services that are appropriate for patient's management and care. 5. Reviews all lab and x-ray reports for patients under his/her care on a timely basis and makes medical management decisions appropriately. 6. Maintain privileges at AHSFHC affiliated hospital(s). 7. Trains and supervises medical students and residents engaged in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate. 8. Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required. 9. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives mentioned in the healthcare plan, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. 10. Have the capacity to perform at a level that meets the national productivity standards for federally qualified health centers. 11. As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs. 12. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
(SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
AND ABILITIES
): 1. Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care. 2. Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements. 3. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. 4. Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise. 5. Excellent computer skills. 6. Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise. 7. Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise. 8. Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops. 9. Effective verbal and written communication skills. 10. Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards. 11. Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress. 12. Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
1. Work may involve exposure to unusual elements, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. 2. Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of medical equipment. Standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day. 3. The work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment. 4. Will be exposed to patients with contagious blood or blood-borne pathogens.
REQUIRED LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION
Licensed by the State of Illinois to practice medicine. Meet credentialing requirements of affiliated hospitals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Medical doctor with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience which includes residency training in a pediatric program.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Graduate from a medical school approved by the Council of Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association.

$150,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
