GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The House Staff Resident is available in house as needed on evenings, weekends and holidays to support the medical and nursing staff with patient wellbeing. The House Staff is a first responder to all codes, supports the medical staff with patient rounds and patient evaluation as requested. House Staff may not independently admit patients to OrthoIndy Hospital but may perform patient care duties at the request of a member of the medical staff within the scope of licensure and OrthoIndy Hospital privileges granted and may at the request of nursing staff perform patient assessments to assist nursing staff in communicating patient conditions to the appropriate medical staff.
Essential Duties:
Assess patients by using skills and knowledge to identify heath problems. Orders laboratory tests as necessary to complete history and physical examination. Assesses normal and abnormal findings obtained from history and physical examination as well as laboratory and x-ray exams. Plans and implements care of supervising Physician, including entering order into patient records as the request of a member of the medical staff team. Provides direct patient treatment within the scope of licensure, training and privileges, under the direction of the responsible member of the medical staff. Evaluates the care of supervising Physician's patients, including entering progress notes in the medical record. Counsels individual families about their health and related issues. Promotes attention to wellness. Helps to individualize teaching plans with each patient based on their needs. Attends or performs rounds to assist members of the medical staff as requested. Assists the OrthoIndy Hospitalist in the care of patients as requested, within the scope of licensure, privileges and training. Assists in the evaluation of patient care through medical records review and the development of protocols of care, as requested by the Hospitalist or OrthoIndy Administration.

Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) or equivalent Related Field Required Indiana State licensure Required Drug Enforcement Agency registration certification Required Controlled Substances Registration certification BLS certification Required ACLS certification Required 1 - 2 years of experience Required OrthoIndy is an Equal Opportunity Employer
