Videos Duties Help Duties included:

(1) Provides quality pient-centered care to adults age 18-65 and older adults age 65+, as assigned by ACOS of Primary Care. (2) Assesses Veterans by utilizing advanced clinical judgment and physical assessment skills. Identifies acute/non-acute/chronic health problems. (3) Ensures th safe, efficient, and high quality healthcare is delivered within the department. (4) Ensures approprie initial evaluion, trement, and consultion, as well as documention, consistent with current VHA Directive and VHNIHCS policies on Emergency Medicine. (5) For admissions to the inpient units, will ensure a physician-to-physician conversion regarding the need for admission, including diagnoses, assessment and recommendions. (6) Demonstre sound decision making skills, both clinical and administrive, which bring credit to the profession and serve to enhance the distinctive and contributory role of physicians. (7) Daily care of pients also entails regular interaction with nursing, coordinion of consultions and care and facilition of diagnostic studies and therapeutic procedures. (8) Other vital roles include: communicion with pients and their families, pient educion, discharge planning and communicion with outpient providers, arranging follow up, preparing discharge instructions, medicion reconciliion, and ensuring communicion during hand-offs of care. (9) Ensures a sign-out to the oncoming physician to ensure an informed transition of care; coordine with the admitting physician and consultants to organize diagnostic and trement plans for all pients pending admission (10) Maintain approprie clinical privileges in order to fulfill the duties of assignment within Primary Care Service. Basic Requirements:

United Stes Citizenship:

Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of educion in medicine or osteophic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a Ste, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United Stes, or in the District of Columbia.

Residency Training:

Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certificion. (

NOTE:

VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty stus.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accredition Council for Gradue Medical Educion (ACGME), b) OR [(2) Those approved by the American Osteophic Associion (AOA),OR (3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United Stes), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with approprie professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an approprie range of pient care experiences. accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged; rher, they are to have a "scope of practice" th allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision. Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
