The Land Between the Lakes anchors the Jackson Purchase regions many outdoor recreation opportunities, with 300 miles of shoreline; 170,000 acres of forest; 200 miles of trails for biking, hiking, wildlife viewing and camping; more than 1,500 campsites; a nature center; living history farm; planetarium and observatory; horseback riding campground and public horse stable; and an off-road vehicle area.
Mayfield and Graves County make up a family-focused community, with a 23-acre soccer complex, public and private pools, community park systems, a library, and a YMCA. Dozens of antique and gift shops offer a treasure trove of wonders; the $35 million Luther F. Carson Center for the Performing Arts draws Broadway productions to the region; and the countys proximity to Paducah offers an abundance of events, festivals, art galleries, museums, shopping, and the citys famous Historic Riverfront.
