Position Description:
The Medical Director provides clinical oversight for all primary care and behavioral health services provided at Inclusion Care. This includes establishing medical protocols, leading quality improvement initiatives, and serving as the chief liaison between the clinic and the local Winchester medical community. This role ensures that Inclusion Care remains a safe, effective, and compassionate medical home for our patients, while maintaining the specialized certifications required for Rural Health Clinics and Behavioral Health Services Organizations.
Requirements Clinical Oversight:
Provide general medical direction for the clinic's healthcare services, ensuring all patient care meets the highest standards of safety and efficacy.
Provider Supervision:
Lead and mentor clinical staff, including providing mandatory collaboration and supervision for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) as required by Kentucky law (CAPA-NS/CAPA-CS).
Integrated Care Leadership:
Oversee the integration of BHSO services within the RHC framework, ensuring a seamless "whole-person" approach to primary and mental health care.
Policy & Protocol Development:
Establish and maintain medical protocols, standing orders, and clinical policies that align with RHC (907 KAR 1:082) and BHSO (902 KAR 20:430) regulations.
Quality Assurance:
Lead the clinic's Quality Improvement (QI) program, conducting periodic assessments of patient outcomes, medical records, and compliance with federal/state benchmarks.
Community Liaison:
Act as the face of Inclusion Care within the Winchester and Clark County medical communities, fostering relationships with local hospitals and specialty providers.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure the clinic maintains its RHC status and BHSO accreditation through diligent oversight of clinical operations and documentation. Education & Training and/or
Experience:
Education:
Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine (MD or DO) in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Experience:
Minimum of 3+ years in a clinical leadership or Medical Director role, preferably within an RHC, FQHC, or BHSO setting.
Board Certification:
Board eligibility or certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Psychiatry preferred.
Language/Math/Reasoning Ability:
Strategic Visionary:
Able to guide the clinic through the complexities of rural healthcare and behavioral health integration.
Knowledgeable:
Deep understanding of Kentucky Medicaid, RHC "All-Inclusive Rate" (AIR) billing logic, and BHSO compliance standards.
Collaborative Leader:
Values the role of mid-level providers and social services in the overall health of the patient.
Licenses, Police Check, Registration, and Certifications:
Community-Minded:
A passion for serving rural populations and a commitment to the mission of Inclusion Care. Maintain active Kentucky Medical Licensure and all necessary DEA/Board certifications required for clinical practice.
