Three positions in one: pediatric emergency department, pediatric hospitalist, well nursery rounding 6 bed pediatric emergency department, 16,000 visits per year 14 bed pediatric inpatient unit, average census 4-10 Rounding 5-7 hours per day on inpatient unit and well nursery (nursery census generally 1-4) Pedi EM shifts are from 8 to 10 hours Level IIb Special Care Nursery on site No deliveries or long-term ventilators (vents available for patients awaiting transfer) Procedures include lumbar punctures and incision and drainage Supported by neonatologists, ED pediatric nurse practitioners, RN staff, resp therapists Inpatient charting is done on paper, ED charting is done with MedHost system Conveniently located 15 miles north of Boston
