Job Description
Job Requirements Monitor and provide direct patient care to patients in the ambulatory clinic setting. Prescribe or administer medication, therapy, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury Analyze records, reports and test results to diagnose patient's medical condition. Interact with patient to gather additional history and information about medical condition. Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patient. Provide specific treatments and/or perform operations to treat patient medical conditions. Evaluate patient and record applicable notes about patient's condition for purposes of serving as a record of treatment and/or making a possible referral to another member of the health care professional team. Liaise with other medical and non-medical staff to ensure quality patient treatment. Perform surgical procedures and operations as appropriate and within Physician's scope of practice and qualifications, including performing incision and drainage of abscesses, simple laceration repair, suture and staple removal, Pap smears, skin biopsies, and IUD insertion and removal. Complete appropriate documentation of patient care services in accordance with applicable law and regulations and policies and procedures governing patient medical records. Complete appropriate documentation to support professional billing for clinical services in accordance with applicable law and regulations. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards, including but not limited to, maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information. Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff. Plan, implement, or administer health programs in hospitals, businesses, or communities for the prevention and treatment of injuries or illnesses. Participate in various community outreach activities, including but not limited to, Continuing Medical Education lectures and activities, health fairs, and other community-oriented activities. Perform other reasonable clinical and administrative duties, as requested by hospital leadership. Work Experience Qualifications
- Possesses and maintains current license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland required.
- Possesses and maintains current Board Certification within practicing specialty required of Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- Possesses and maintains current DEA or similar Narcotics and Controlled Substances Certification required.
- Possesses and maintains, if applicable, appropriate clinical privileges at a minimum of one UMMS affiliated acute care facility.
- Demonstrates meeting minimum CME requirements for licensure and board certification.
- Demonstrates appropriate qualifications and experience to perform the duties required of this position.
