Job Description

The Psychiatric Urgent Care clinic at Sheppard Pratt's Elkridge and Towson campuses is a walk-in service for people needing immediate psychiatric care. It's designed to be focused on immediate triage and assessment to guide patients to the best next step in treatment.
What to expect:
The Psychiatrist in Psychiatric Urgent Care (PUC) provides essential clinical expertise by conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including mental status examinations and diagnostic summaries. This individual is responsible for formulating initial diagnoses and determining the most appropriate level of care—including the necessity for hospitalization—for patients presenting with a wide spectrum of mental health and substance use disorders. Depending on the experience level of the selected candidate, there is opportunity for appointment ore advancement into a leadership role for Admissions and PUC. The leadership role would involve providing clinical oversight to ensure the safety, quality, and efficiency of immediate psychiatric triage. This leadership function involves establishing clinical protocols for rapid assessments, optimizing patient throughput, and facilitating seamless transitions to inpatients units or alternative care settings. Working in close partnership with the Senior Director of Access and Chief of Medical Staff, the leader aligns clinic operations with Sheppard Pratt's mission and strategic objectives. Other leadership responsibilities include supervising a multidisciplinary team and trainees, managing department budgets, and ensuring full compliance with licensing and regulatory accreditation standards. What you'll get from us: At Sheppard Pratt, you will work alongside a multi-disciplined team led by a bold vision to change lives.
We offer:
An opportunity to provide quality mental health care services in a physician-led organization. A commitment to professional development, including a comprehensive tuition reimbursement program, access to free SMEs and reimbursement for licensure and association dues. (EAP) Opportunities for student loan forgiveness. Grand rounds, CME opportunities, and on-site lectures. An opportunity work with trainees including medical students, residents, and fellows.
What we need from you:
Completion of a training program and practical experience in an acute psychiatric setting. Completion of a residency training program. Board Certification in Psychiatry and active Maryland medical license. Possession of a Maryland Controlled Substances Registration and a valid DEA Certificate. Experience leading care teams in behavioral health or psychiatric care settings. Support education and standardization opportunities to enhance care delivery. The base pay range for this position is $260,000 minimum to $350,000 maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, board certifications and years and level of related experience.
