Physiatrist - Brain InjurySummaryPhysiatrist is responsible for providing professional medical services in the specialty of Physiatry (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation) to the patients of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. The medical services provided are within the mission, vision and values of the parent corporation, the Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. They report to the Chief Medical Officer. Project Co-Director - TBD The Project Co-Director will serve as Co-PI and Medical Director for Brain Injury Research under the John F. Butzer Center for Research and Innovation. This individual will assist with the planning, development, and preparation of an application for the TBI Model Systems along with Co-Director Allan Kozlowski, Ph.D., and Research Administrator Ashley Fife, MPH. Responsibilities include background project development, site and module planning and development, feasibility testing of database participant enrollment and follow-up, co-publication of current work, manuscript preparation and publication, and grant writing and application preparation. They will provide oversight for all clinical aspects of the project, participate in research meetings, and assist with analyzing, interpreting, and dissemination of results. Essential Job ResponsibilitiesProvides professional medical services in the specialty of physiatry to patients of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in the following areas:
InpatientsOutpatientsClinicsTimely consultations at referring hospitals and facilitiesInvasive procedures within the normal scope of physiatry practice whenadequate credentials and procedural guidelines including staff education are established.
Maintains medical records in a timely fashion and cooperates with billing, peer review and compliance programsProvides oversight and education for students, residents, and any mid-level providersMaintains staff privileges at MFB, and mutually agreed upon other hospitals, including the duties required to maintain those privileges such as medical record completion, committee service, compliance, citizenship, etc.
Identifies and promotes opportunities for improvement of care and actively participates in MFB quality initiativesMonitors developments in specialty field and promotes new programs that meet new program criteriaProvides medical leadership to treatment team treating assigned patients and promotes harmonious and effective team functioningModels professional behaviorEnhances knowledge and understanding of capabilities and services of MFB among medical professionals and patient populations through regular participation in professional education sessions with network partners, discharge planning conferences at regional acute care hospitals, participation in ICU and other Rehab teams at network and regional acute care hospitals and similar activities, community outreach and programming opportunities presented or promoted by the Hospital.
