Job Description

Join the Minneapolis VA Health Care System as a skilled Anesthesiologist with cardiothoracic experience and deliver high-quality care for veterans. This long-term, full-time contract offers flexible on-call arrangements, a collaborative team environment, and exceptional earning potential.
Position:
Anesthesiologist Cardiothoracic Experience PreferredLocation:
Minneapolis VA Health Care System, One Veterans Drive, Minneapolis, MN 55417
Position Type:
Contract Long-Term, Full-Time (Base Year + Four Option Years)
Compensation & Benefits Schedule:
Monday Friday, 6:30 a.m. 3:00 p.m. (Excluding Federal Holidays)
Estimated Hours:
80 hours every two weeks
Rotating On-Call Schedule:
Collaboratively confirmed

30-minute unpaidWhy This Opportunity is Exceptional Work with a leading VA health system serving veteransOpportunity to provide anesthesia for cardiothoracic surgeries and complex proceduresCollaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomesMake a direct impact on veteran patient careTop-tier compensation with potential for growthKey Responsibilities Administer anesthesia and monitor patients during surgical proceduresDevelop and implement anesthesia care plans with surgical teamsProvide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative patient careEvaluate patient histories and perform physical assessments for anesthesia protocolsMaintain accurate patient records following VA policiesRespond confidently to anesthesia-related emergenciesContribute to educational programs and anesthesia practice improvementsFollow safety standards, infection control protocols, and federal regulations
Note:
Cardiac device implantation (pacemakers, LVADs, defibrillators) may be involved but is not the primary responsibility.

Qualifications M.D. or D.O. degreeBoard Certified in AnesthesiologyCardiothoracic anesthesia experience preferredActive, unrestricted U.S. medical license (any state)Proven clinical experience in hospital or surgical settingsStrong clinical judgment and ability to work independentlyExcellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skillsCompassionate, patient-centered care in a high-demand environmentKnowledge of VA policies and federal regulations desirable
