Physician & Internal Medicine Residency Track Manager Location:

Full-Time Overview Cherokee Indian Hospital & Health System is seeking a Physician and Internal Medicine Residency Program Manager to join its team in Cherokee, North Carolina. This position combines clinical Internal Medicine practice (16-18 patients/day average) with leadership of a rural and tribal health residency track, overseeing a small group of 4-6 residents. This is an excellent opportunity for a Physician interested in patient care, teaching, and working in a mission-driven environment serving an underserved population. Compensation and Benefits Salary ranges from $250,000 to over $300,000 annually, depending on experience Comprehensive benefits package including health, retirement, PTO, and CME Malpractice coverage provided Relocation assistance available Any active U.S. medical license accepted for the first 6 months , with North Carolina licensure required within that timeframe No on call Flexible scheduling options of Five 8's or Four 10's - hour shifts/week Position Summary This role includes both clinical and academic responsibilities. Approximately 80 percent of time is spent providing Internal Medicine care across inpatient and outpatient settings, with the remaining time focused on residency program leadership and development. Clinical Responsibilities Provide comprehensive care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute and chronic conditions Deliver preventive care and patient education Admit and manage patients in the hospital as needed Coordinate referrals to specialists and outside facilities when necessary Participate in shared call coverage, including nights and weekends Maintain timely and accurate medical documentation Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to improve patient outcomes Residency Program Responsibilities Oversee curriculum development and rural track rotations Supervise and mentor 4-6 Internal Medicine residents Serve as liaison between the hospital and the residency program Support faculty development and provide ongoing feedback Ensure compliance with accreditation and credentialing standards Participate in resident recruitment, interviews, and selection Encourage and support scholarly activity Promote cultural awareness and engagement with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Qualifications MD or DO required Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Active U.S. medical license required, with ability to obtain North Carolina license within 6 months BLS certification required; ACLS preferred Interest in rural health, academic medicine, and underserved populations About the Location Cherokee, North Carolina is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains and offers access to hiking, outdoor recreation, and a strong sense of community.
