Job Description

Adelphi is seeking a primary care physician to provide services at a correctional facility in North Carolina.

The physician will work on-site within a secure clinical setting and collaborate closely with correctional staff, nurses, and behavioral health teams to ensure continuity and quality of care.

                      Requirements:
                      • MD/DO
                      • Active NC license
                      • BC/CE
                      • BLS certification
                      • ACLS certifiation
                      • DEA certification
                      • Copy of Post Graduate Training in
                      FM/EM/IM/GP
                      • Minimum of one year post-graduate clinical experience (correctional medicine preferred)
                      Responsibilities:
                      • Provide medically necessary primary care and chronic disease management to adult offenders housed at the facility.
                      • Perform physical assessments, routine sick calls, chronic care follow-ups, intake evaluations, and urgent care for acute conditions.
                      • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and lab results in accordance with the facility's clinical protocols.
                      • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and ensure appropriate documentation within the HERO (EMR) system.
                      • Prescribe medications in compliance with the facility's approved formulary and medical guidelines.
                      • Coordinate care with nursing staff, behavioral health providers, and other clinical personnel within the facility.
                      • Ensure continuity of care through appropriate referrals and discharge planning, including communication with outside hospitals when necessary.
                      • Respond to medical emergencies and provide first-line response during on-site incidents.
                      • Participate in quality assurance and peer review processes as required by the facilty.
                      • Comply with all institutional, departmental, and state/federal regulations and policies related to correctional healthcare delivery.
