POSITION SUMMARY
The Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist is an integral member of the Interdisciplinary Team, responsible for the assessment of play, recreation, leisure skills, and psychosocial adjustment to hospitalization, to facilitate therapy, leisure education, and recreation participation for the pediatric (re)habilitation of children ages birth to 20 years of age. The CTRS is responsible for adherence to the scope and standards of practice as defined by the American Therapeutic Recreation Association. The CTRS demonstrates professional judgment, uses problem solving techniques and time-management principles to achieve quality outcomes for each patient. They participate in patient and family teaching and work collaboratively with other disciplines on the interdisciplinary team to maintain optimal standards of patient care and assure carryover of treatment plans/goals as indicated. #
W1 POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist by NCTRC required Dual-certified as Child Life Specialist preferred CPR/BLS Certification Experience working with children with disabilities or chronic illness Ability to supervise groups of infants, children, and adolescents with disabilities in a safe manner Pediatric experience in medical settings preferred Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to work well as a team member Weekend availability required
