Job Overview New Mexico Center for Pain & Wellness is seeking a motivated and procedure-focused Interventional Pain Medicine Physician to join our rapidly growing multidisciplinary practice in New Mexico. This is an exceptional opportunity for a physician looking to build a high-volume procedural practice while working alongside experienced interventionalist Dr. Mark Grossetete in a collaborative and supportive environment. In this role, you will provide comprehensive interventional pain treatments, utilizing advanced techniques and medical imaging to diagnose and alleviate complex pain conditions. Your expertise will help develop personalized care plans, coordinate with various specialties, and deliver exceptional patient-centered care in both outpatient and inpatient settings. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients suffering from acute and chronic pain while working within a collaborative, forward-thinking environment. Medical Director Responsibilities Provide clinical leadership and oversight for APPs within the pain management program Help develop and train APPs to appropriately identify procedural candidates and optimize patient selection Collaborate with APPs on treatment planning, procedural pathways, and evidence-based pain management strategies Support education and protocol development to improve procedural efficiency and patient outcomes Assist in building a strong multidisciplinary pain program focused on high-quality interventional care Participate in provider mentorship, workflow optimization, and clinical quality initiatives Work alongside leadership to support practice growth, referral development, and expansion of interventional services Responsibilities Perform minimally invasive interventional procedures such as nerve blocks, epidural injections, radiofrequency ablations, and spinal cord stimulator placements using state-of-the-art medical imaging techniques including CT and fluoroscopy. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including detailed medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations to formulate effective pain management plans. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including anesthesiology, neurology, psychiatry, and rehabilitation specialists to optimize patient outcomes. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and other EMR platforms to document procedures, treatment plans, and patient progress accurately. Educate patients on pain management options, including pharmacologic therapies like botulinum toxin treatments and non-pharmacologic approaches such as health coaching and physical therapy. Monitor patient responses post-procedure, adjusting treatment plans as necessary while ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed. Stay current with advances in interventional radiology and pain medicine through ongoing research, clinical trials, and professional development activities. Requirements Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification or eligibility in Pain Medicine or Anesthesiology with subspecialty training in Interventional Pain Medicine. Proven experience performing interventional radiology procedures such as catheterization, neurocritical care interventions, or vascular radiography is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of medical imaging modalities including CT scans and fluoroscopy for precise procedural guidance. Familiarity with EMR systems like Epic or similar platforms for documentation and patient management. Excellent skills in patient assessment, clinical research participation, and developing individualized care plans. Ability to work effectively in inpatient and outpatient settings within a hospital or specialized pain clinic environment. Basic life support (BLS) certification; additional certifications in advanced airway management or critical care are advantageous.
