Anatomic Pathology Operations Manager Facility:
Leading Regional Health System (Westchester County, NY)
Department:
Anatomic Pathology (Histology, Cytology, MOHS)
Schedule:
Full-Time | Day Shift (Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM + rotating weekends/holidays)
Salary Range:
$111,376 - $167,066
Additional Sign-On Bonus:
$10,000 Position Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Anatomic Pathology Operations Manager to lead and coordinate operations across Histology, Cytology, and MOHS laboratories. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving quality, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and team performance. The Operations Manager will oversee laboratory leadership staff and play a critical role in advancing clinical excellence, optimizing workflows, and ensuring a high standard of patient care. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Oversight Provide direct oversight of laboratory leadership, including Pathology Supervisor, Chief Cytotechnologist, and administrative management Lead hiring, coaching, performance management, and staff development initiatives Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement Serve as a mentor, role model, and change agent within the department Operations Management Direct and coordinate daily operations across Histology, Cytology, and MOHS labs Monitor workflow, staffing, and turnaround times to ensure optimal performance Step in to perform supervisory duties as needed to maintain continuity of operations Prepare and manage departmental payroll, staffing schedules, and resource allocation Quality & Compliance Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., CAP, NYSDOH) Oversee quality control programs and prepare monthly QC reports Support performance improvement initiatives and departmental audits Maintain documentation for test implementation, validation, and staff training Strategic & Administrative Functions Develop and manage departmental goals, budgets, and capital equipment planning Collaborate with senior leadership and medical directors on strategic initiatives Participate in committees, task forces, and cross-functional projects Maintain strong vendor relationships and resolve operational issues Technology & Systems Support and optimize laboratory information systems and instrumentation Assist with system enhancements, test builds, and reporting workflows Drive efficient use of laboratory software and interfaces Communication & Collaboration Ensure clear and effective communication across all levels of the organization Partner with interdisciplinary teams to support patient care initiatives Reinforce strong customer service standards and positive employee relations Qualifications Education & Certification Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field required ASCP certification preferred Licensure Active New York State license required in one of the following: > Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Cytotechnologist, Histotechnologist or Pathologists' Assistant Experience Minimum 6 years of relevant hospital laboratory experience in Pathology Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred Demonstrated knowledge of anatomic pathology operations and regulatory standards Core Competencies Leadership and team development Operational excellence and strategic thinking Strong organizational and multitasking ability Attention to detail and regulatory focus Adaptability in a fast-paced environment
Pay:
$111,367.98 - $167,066.00 per year
