Full Job Description House Physician Job Description:
1. HP is responsible to check in with Nursing Supervisor upon arrival to discuss any emergent/urgent problems with the facility's inpatients. 2. HP will respond to all medical emergent/urgent needs of inpatients/residents and start immediate therapy, if required and contact the Attending Physician about actions taken if needed. 3.As directed, visits patients housed in the medical unit or ICU and records encounters in patient progress notes. 4. If there are orders that are absolutely necessary and may affect disposition then it must be communicated and discussed with the patients attending. 5. At change of shift if there is any pending admission that may affect the transfer time, HP can place very basic admission orders. There is no change of shift sign in or sign out. 6. Patients that may need a sudden higher level of care or there is a major change in their status, then it should be communicated directly with the patients attending and full report must be documented on the chart. 7. If a patient needs to be transferred to a tertiary facility for a higher level of care, HP will place the transfer orders and facilitate the process by placing the appropriate calls to the accepting team, supervisor etc. Of note the medical attending MUST be notified and have his/her permission prior to transfer . 7. HP is responsible to pronounce all deaths including the ICU and if necessary to call the Coroner on call. 9. HP provides insertion and removal of all Dub Hoff (Dudeno-Jejunal tubes) and confirming placement with X-rays and all the proper updated guidelines. A procedure note must be placed in the chart. Part time moonlighters are not required to place the tubes but should be available to remove them if necessary. 10. HP will be the first call for difficult lines by nurses. If an attempt placing a peripheral line fails, the decision to proceed with Central line access should be made by the best medical judgment of HP and the medical attending. 11. Central lines will be placed initially by the attending if it's absolutely necessary for the patient who needs immediate access. 12. When called upon HP will remove central lines from the Groin, Subclavian and Internal Jugular lines. 13. HP will provide coverage as the lead director for all Code Blue's and Rapid Response (referred to RRT) all throughout the hospital. 14. Maintain a professional, courteous demeanor in their interactions with patient/residents, families and Hospital personnel. 15. Maintain a currently valid ACLS certification.
License/Certification:
Pennsylvania Medical License (Required) Pennsylvania License and DEA (Required) Willingness to travel: 25% (Preferred)
