Job Description

JOB DUTIES
Establishes preliminary diagnoses of physical abnormalities under the direction of the supervising physician as per guidelines. Recommends for further testing and examinations to appropriate cooperating services, (i.e., hospitals, clinical laboratories, radiological services, and other technical or specialized services. Provides preventative services such as, weight loss/diet modification, smoking cessation counseling, etc. Maintains and documents complete medical records and completes patient reports as required. Participates in the development of written standing orders and/or protocols to be used by the Physician Extender as appropriate. Prescription refills are completed per Collaborative Agreement with supervising physician. Daily lab and hospital reports are reviewed with supervising physician and addressed as appropriate. Acceptance of other duties and special assignments as may be designated by the Medical Director. Physician assistant will see patients in the office that are referred for medical management. Medical management would include EKG, reviewing patients past medical history, family history, social history, history of present illness, reviewing patient symptoms, review of systems, assessment/medical examination and plan for continued care of the patient. This includes scheduling patients for further testing including but not limited to echocardiograms, stress test, radiologic studies and laboratory studies. Medication management as well as referrals to other providers as necessary. Physician Assistant will review test results with the patient and also provide counseling and coordination of their care. Physician assistant will also follow patients within the hospital as consulted, document, place orders and order testing as appropriate.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Graduate of a nationally accredited and/or state approved PAC educational program approved by the American Medical Association. Pennsylvania Certification as a PAC. Credentialing - Competencies in accordance with current credentialing and/or competency requirements. Current BLS Healthcare Provider card.
