About Valor Recovery Valor Recovery LLC is a newly establishing licensed Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for substance use disorder treatment located in Ellsworth, Maine. We operate at ASAM Level 2.1 using a Therapeutic Community model with full Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT/MOUD) integration. Our program is designed for MaineCare provider participation under Maine DHHS Division of Licensing and Certification (DLC) standards and the MaineCare Benefits Manual, Chapter II, Section 65. We are looking for a physician who shares our commitment to evidence-based, compassionate SUD care and wants to make a meaningful contribution to Maine's recovery landscape without a heavy time commitment. Position Overview This is an independent contractor engagement providing required medical oversight for a Maine DHHS-licensed IOP under 10-144 CMR Chapter 123 and MaineCare Section 65.05. The role is telehealth-first, with an estimated time commitment of 4-8 hours per month . On-site presence is not required under normal operations. This position does not involve on-site prescribing, dispensing, or medication storage. Valor Recovery does not operate an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) and has no methadone dispensing component. MAT coordination is handled via referral to external prescribers; your role is one of oversight and protocol governance, not direct patient prescribing. Core Responsibilities Review and approve medical evaluation protocols, emergency response procedures, and

coordination policies in compliance with Ch. 123 and MaineCare §65 requirements Provide documented medical oversight of program clinical protocols on an ongoing basis Be available for clinical consultation with the Clinical Director regarding medically complex clients as needed (phone/telehealth) Participate in utilization review as required by MaineCare for continued medical necessity determinations Review and co-sign required documentation per Maine DHHS licensure standards Maintain availability for regulatory review or audit inquiries regarding medical oversight functions Requirements Active, unrestricted Maine medical license (MD or DO) In good standing with the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine DEA registration current (preferred; waiver-eligible practitioners welcome) Experience with or strong interest in addiction medicine, SUD treatment, or behavioral health Familiarity with ASAM criteria, MAT/MOUD (buprenorphine, naltrexone), and IOP-level care preferred Comfortable working in a telehealth-first, documentation-driven consulting capacity Independent contractor status; must carry own malpractice/professional liability coverage Compensation Competitive flat-fee monthly retainer commensurate with scope and time commitment. Compensation structured as an independent contractor arrangement; all Anti-Kickback Statute compliance requirements (42 U.S.C. §1320a-7b(b)) are incorporated into the formal consulting agreement.
