Has the knowledge and ability and will be required to code all of the following: inpatient and/or outpatient hospital records, ED records, Home Health & Hospice records and/or professional fee services for PMG specialty providers or demonstrate coding expertise in a specific specialty deemed a critical business need by PHS Coding Leadership using theICD-9/10
CM and CPT-4 classification system. Ensures adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures Some key responsibilities include: Must demonstrate knowledge of coding multiple areas of service and/or specialties or extensive experience in a specific specialty deemed a critical business need by PHS Coding Leadership. Reviews patients entire current medical record, assigning appropriate codes including CPT, ICD and MS-DRG (as defined by UHDDS guidelines and CMS) to be used for financial reimbursement, research in accordance with Federal Regulations and Hospital and Departmental policies. Accesses several systems via the computer to research the medical record when needed to complete the coding in a timely manner. Takes responsibility for accounts receivable by looking for lost documents to insure all encounters are coded, including the generation of appropriate queries, as needed. Maintains and disseminates up-to-date technical knowledge of legal and regulatory information from all appropriate jurisdictions concerning the given business area. This includes but is not limited to allICD-9/10
CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, and DRG, APC and/or HHRG updates and changes. Responsible for resolving any and all pre-bill edits, denials, etc. for assigned accounts. Participates in all departmental in-services and updates to stay current with the accepted coding guidelines and improve personal knowledge of medicine and treatment. Performs other functions as required.Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED required. Must have any one of the following coding certifications at time of hire: HCS-D, CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H or CPC, orRHIT/RHIA
with achievement of one of the coding credentials above within one year of hire. One-three years experience as a coder required. Must possess computer skills including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience with an encoder preferred. Experience with an Electronic Medical Record preferred. Peer Recovery Support Specialist will provide Recovery Coaching to patients struggling with mental health and substance use disorders. Recovery Coaching is a set of non-clinical activities based on shared lived experience that engage, educate, and support an individual to successfully recover from mental or substance use disorders. Peer Recovery Support Specialists act as a recovery and empowerment catalyst: guiding the recovery process and supporting individual recovery choices, goals, and decisions. They may assist the patient in identifying personal and environmental obstacles to recovery, link the recovering person to the recovery community, and serve as a personal guide and mentor in the management of personal and family recovery. Weekday Schedule Monday-Friday (United States of America)Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and communicates with hospital staff, funders and community partners as required.
- Creates reports and presentations as required.
- Works independently and with a multidisciplinary team to provide services and deliverables as required by PHS and/or funders.
- Engages patient toward recovery using Motivational Interviewing Skills.
- Provides patient assessment(s).
- Provides Naloxone education in partnership with nursing and medical personnel.
- Identifies and provides community resources.
- Works with ancillary/community providers to ensure seamless transition for continuity of care.
- Supports patient in linkage with community appointment prior to discharge.
- Regularly contacts patient after discharge.
- Manages and maintains patient tracking and outcomes.
- Complies with hospital, funding, State and Federal regulations.
- Support Patients, first and foremost uses their personal experiences to develop meaningful and trusting relationships with patients, acting as a mentor. As someone who successfully managed their own recovery, the Peer Recovery Support Specialist provides patients an example of what they can strive for in their recovery.
- Coordinate Patient Logistics, in order to support the facility, handles some logistics of patient arrival and departure; includes arranging transportation for the patient, managing follow-up appointments, and working with facility administrators and discharge staff members.
- Build Community, works to build a community of both patients and staff that is supportive and conducive to patient growth and recovery. May assist in the creation and implementation of social activities and help create a positive environment for everyone.
- Identify Resources for patients; link up with various community organizations and resources to provide additional support for patients, particularly as they transition from recovery back into the general community.
