We are seeking a Psychiatrist (MD/DO) to provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management services for children and adolescents receiving outpatient mental health treatment. The Psychiatrist performs comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, medication management, and ongoing treatment for children and adolescents with mental health conditions. This role provides psychiatric services in accordance with applicable federal and California state laws, medical board regulations, and professional standards while supporting agency clinical and operational goals. This role may also include clinical supervision and consultation responsibilities for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) consistent with California law and agency policies.
Position Schedule:
    Part-time:
    20-30 hours per week

    Responsibilities:
    • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric, psychosocial, developmental, and risk assessments.
    • Diagnose and treat acute, episodic, and chronic psychiatric conditions in children and adolescents
    • Provide medication management, including prescribing controlled substances in compliance with DEA and state regulations.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.
    • Perform ongoing evaluation of treatment effectiveness and adjust plans as clinically indicated.
    • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation, including assessments, progress notes, medication consent forms, medication orders, and managed care outpatient treatment reports.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams and participate in clinical case discussions.
    • Provide education to clients, families, and staff as appropriate.
    • Ensure continuity of care through referrals and coordination with internal and external providers.
    • Provide clinical supervision, consultation, and collaborative oversight to Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs), consistent with California law and organizational policies.
    • Review clinical cases and support quality assurance activities related to psychiatric services delivered by PMHNP staff.
    • Serve as a physician resource for complex diagnostic, medication management, and risk assessment cases.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, professional development, and team meetings.
    • Performs other related duties as required.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
    • Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program.
    • Board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry required; Child and Adolescent Psychiatry subspecialty certification strongly preferred.
    • Active, unrestricted California medical license.
    • Current DEA registration with authority to prescribe controlled substances.
    • Minimum of 2-3 years experience providing psychiatric services, preferably in outpatient or community mental health settings.
    • Demonstrated experience working with children, adolescents, and families.
    • Strong knowledge of pediatric psychopharmacology, psychiatric assessment, and evidence-based treatment approaches.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and standard office software.
    • Prior experience supervising, mentoring, or collaborating with Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners or advanced practice providers preferred.
    • Knowledge of California laws and regulations governing physician collaboration and supervision of nurse practitioners preferred.
    • Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care principles strongly preferred.

    Compensation :
    Hourly (Exempt) Starting at $165.00/hr., commensurate with experience and qualifications.
