Job Description

The Millington Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) has an opening for a Neurologist that offers a dual academic appointment with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). The CBOC is a part of the Department of Veterans Affairs and falls under the Memphis VA Medical Center. It's one of the largest of twelve community-based clinics within the Memphis VA clinical network. The Memphis VA is a 1a complexity tertiary care VA healthcare system located in one of the fastest growing Veteran population regions in the United States. The main campus provides comprehensive care to almost 69,000 Veterans in a 52-county area of Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. It includes 236 inpatient beds with a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, as well as extensive education and research programs. Comprehensive primary, secondary, and tertiary health care is provided in vast areas of medicine, to include but not limited to cardiology, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, neurology, oncology, rheumatology, geriatrics, women's health, and dentistry. Duties include but are not limited to: Inpatient consultation, outpatient general cardiology clinic, and interpretation of non-invasive cardiac tests such as Transthoracic Echocardiogram, Transesophageal Echocardiogram, ETT, Nuclear Stress tests, Ziopath, Holters, Cardiac CTs, Cardiac MRIs, and EKGs. Share attending call responsibilities with other cardiologists in covering some nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Round with a team of Residents and Fellows on occasion and perform emergency procedures on patients in the ICU or when required in the Emergency Department or Operating Room. Lead and manage the Cardiology/Coronary Care Unit (CCU) team consisting of Cardiology Fellows, Internal Medicine Residents, Medical Students, Pharmacists, and Mid-level Providers while on inpatient service. Give didactic lectures to Cardiology Fellows and participate in academic activities such as journal reviews, grand rounds, and conferences.

in Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology Eligible for a Faculty Appointment at UTHSC Full and unrestricted license from ANY state US Citizenship Be proficient in the written and spoken use of the English language
