This is a daytime outpatient role with no nights or weekends, serving a diverse patient population with a focus on
HIV, STI
management, and related infectious disease care alongside chronic condition management. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates relocating from outside the Austin metro area. Schedule Monday through Friday, daytime hours. Standard shifts are 8 hours, with proportional patient targets applied to extended shifts. Four hours of protected administrative time are provided per week. Compensation Base salary of $290,000 to $320,000, with estimated total compensation of $314,000 to $464,000 annually inclusive of a sign-on bonus, quarterly performance bonus, retention bonus, and bi-weekly patient visit productivity bonuses. A 401(k) plan and a comprehensive benefits package are included. Relocation assistance is provided where applicable. What You'll Do As an Infectious Disease Physician, you will provide comprehensive outpatient care to patients presenting with infectious disease diagnoses including HIV, STIs, and related conditions, as well as chronic disease management for hypertension, diabetes, asthma, hyperlipidemia, and COPD. Acute presentations including respiratory illness, UTIs, burns, and infections are also within scope. You will manage 14 to 18 patients per shift in a supported clinical environment with front desk staff, care coordinators, and nursing staff handling scheduling, workflow, and urgent care triage. You will complete same-day documentation whenever possible, and within 72 hours at most, including accurate E&M coding for all visits. Lab results, imaging, and consultant reports are reviewed and acted on promptly, and prescription renewals are processed within a 72-hour window. You will monitor patient communications daily and support patient retention through summary preparation and proactive follow-up coordination. Mid-level provider supervision is part of this role. You will oversee PAs and NPs through chart reviews and audits in accordance with Texas Medical Board requirements. Assigned after-hours on-call rotations are included in the scope of this position. Within 18 months of hire, you will obtain AAHIVM (American Academy of HIV Medicine) certification, with ongoing renewal expected as a condition of continued employment. Required Qualifications M.D. or D.O. with an active Texas Medical Board license or eligibility to obtain one Board certification in Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, or a directly related specialty Valid DEA registration Active CPR/BLS certification Outpatient clinical experience with the ability to manage 14 to 18 patients per day Comfort with HIV and STI patient populations and related infectious disease management AAHIVM Certification required within 18 months of start date Minimum 2 years of post-training clinical experience Preferred Qualifications Existing AAHIVM certification at time of hire Experience with E&M billing documentation in an outpatient or community health setting Familiarity with supervising NPs or PAs under Texas Medical Board supervisory guidelines Experience in federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) or community health centers Bilingual fluency, particularly Spanish, given the patient population served Compensation and Benefits Base salary of $290,000 to $320,000 Sign-on bonus Quarterly performance bonus Retention bonus Bi-weekly patient visit productivity bonuses 401(k) plan Medical, dental, and vision coverage Paid time off Four hours of protected administrative time per week Relocation assistance (where applicable) To apply, submit your CV and a brief note on your outpatient infectious disease experience.
