Ophthalmologist TDB Communications - 3.3 San Antonio, TX Job Details Contract 14 hours ago Qualifications Record keeping Electronic health records (EHR) management HIPAA Care documentation Bachelor's degree Optometry License Clinical documentation Medical License Patient interaction Health information management Document management Managing patient records Full Job Description Overview TDB Communications, Inc., is seeking qualified (OPH) Ophthalmologist or (OPT) Optometrist with their own (IPA) clinic location with the VA LOB to support Veterans through Medical Disability Examinations (MDEs) for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This is a flexible, independent contractor opportunity ideal for providers seeking part-time, per diem, or supplemental income. Duties Perform thorough eye examinations using advanced diagnostic tools to assess visual acuity, ocular health, and physiological function. Diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, retinal diseases, and pediatric ocular issues. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medical management, surgical interventions, or referrals to specialists when necessary. Conduct or oversee clinical research studies and participate in clinical trials aimed at discovering new treatments or improving existing procedures in ophthalmology. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Monitor vital signs and perform aseptic techniques during surgical procedures or invasive diagnostic tests to prevent infection. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including optometrists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care across acute care settings and senior care facilities. Stay current with advancements in ophthalmology by engaging in ongoing education related to anatomy knowledge, physiology insights, medical terminology, and research laboratory experience. Skills Extensive knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy of the eye, physiology, and medical coding practices relevant to eye care services. Proven experience in post-residency practice settings with a focus on pediatrics or senior care populations. Strong background in clinical research methodologies, including designing or participating in clinical trials related to ophthalmic treatments. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic for documentation and data management; familiarity with medical records management is essential. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate complex medical information clearly and compassionately. Ability to perform detailed assessments involving vital signs monitoring and aseptic techniques during procedures. Passing all three parts of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX-USA).License Needed:
An unrestricted Medical Physician and Surgeon License . [1, 2] 2.Optometrist Education:
A bachelor's degree and 4 years at an accredited school of optometry.Examinations:
Passage of all three parts of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) examination.License Needed:
An Optometrist License issued by state boards. In Texas Experience Minimum 1-2 years of experience preferred Direct patient care experience preferred but not required Retired providers may be considered Facility Requirements Providers must maintain an OSHA and ADA-compliant office facility unless otherwise approved by Leidos. Facility requirements include, but are not limited to: Accessible parking and entrances Clean and safe examination areas Wheelchair-accessible exam room Proper emergency signage and exits Calibration documentation for equipment Cerumen management supplies Single-use testing supplies Medical spas are not accepted.Providers will receive:
