SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Under physician supervision, responsible for assisting with the selection and assembly of various modes of extracorporeal support of both pediatric and adult patients undergoing congenital, acquired, and traumatic lesions requiring surgical correction.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited School of Perfusion with a bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning directly related to the duties of the position is required. Pediatric interest required and experience preferred. New grads must have provisional license contingent on passing ABCP exam. Must test and pass the exam within 12 months of hire to be qualified for CCP credentials. Fundamental knowledge and skills with perfusion/surgical equipment; strong anatomical and surgical technology knowledge and excellent dexterity in the use of required equipment. Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and throughout long procedures. Strong focus on clinical quality and delivery of best results for patients. Ability to collaborate and gain cooperation in team-oriented environment. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Recognizes and resolves variances and abnormal situations that may arise.
LICENSURE
American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion certified or certification eligible. Perfusion licensure by Texas Medical Board or meets requirements to obtain licensure. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
