On-Call Requirements:
Every 6th weekday (5:00 PM•8:00 AM) and one weekend approximately every 6 weeks Position Description We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Primary Care Physician for a contract opportunity in Abilene, Texas. In this role, you will provide comprehensive primary care services to a caseload of approximately 35-45 individuals, focusing on preventative care, acute illness management, injury treatment, and follow-up care. Physicians typically see no more than 10 patients per day, allowing ample time to provide high-quality, patient-centered care. Daily responsibilities include conducting medical clinics, participating in interdisciplinary team meetings, completing annual and interval medical assessments, and supporting overall resident wellness. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with a multidisciplinary team while making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring specialized care. Requirements Active Texas Physician License (required) Current DEA Registration (required) Active NPI Number (required) Current CPR/BLS Certification (required) Clean professional record with no history of board sanctions (required) Experience treating individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (preferred) Experience with electronic health records, including Cerner (preferred) Previous experience in a State Hospital, State Supported Living Center, or similar setting (preferred) Strong communication, collaboration, and clinical assessment skills Additional Details Most on-call responsibilities (approximately 95%) are managed by phone Weekend and holiday on-call coverage includes infirmary rounds and evaluation of acute illnesses or injuries as needed Infirmary consists of a 16-bed acute and chronic care unit Low daily patient volume allows for thorough patient assessments and care planning Opportunity to work within a collaborative interdisciplinary healthcare team #P1
