Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and motivated PRN Radiology Student Extern to support our diagnostic imaging team. This role offers valuable hands-on experience in medical imaging procedures within a dynamic healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in radiology and possess foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology, contributing to high-quality patient care and diagnostic evaluation. Duties Assist licensed radiologic technologists in performing various imaging procedures, including X-ray, CT scans, PET scans, mammography, DEXA scans, and sonography. Support the preparation and positioning of patients to ensure accurate imaging results while maintaining patient comfort and safety. Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols during all procedures. Observe and learn about diagnostic radiology processes, including emergency room and trauma center imaging protocols. Maintain detailed documentation of procedures performed and assist with equipment setup and calibration. Collaborate with healthcare team members to facilitate efficient diagnostic evaluations in urgent care and emergency settings. Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and excellent communication skills when interacting with patients of diverse backgrounds. Experience Currently enrolled in an accredited radiologic technology program or related healthcare field. Basic understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medical imaging principles. Exposure to or familiarity with nuclear medicine, sonography, mammography, DEXA scans, PET scans, and CT imaging is preferred. Prior experience in emergency medicine or Level I/II trauma center environments is advantageous. Knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control practices essential for patient safety. Demonstrated interest in diagnostic evaluation and radiology procedures through coursework or clinical rotations. Strong organizational skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately in a fast-paced setting.
