Long term Position Overview We are seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Neurosurgeon to provide comprehensive neurosurgical care. The role involves direct patient care (approx. 85%) and administrative responsibilities (approx. 15%). Qualifications Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia. Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Neurosurgery (ABNS). Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing). Adherence to Facility Medical Staff By-Laws, rules, and regulations. Responsibilities Provide neurosurgical care in clinic and operating room settings.
Case load:
approx. 8 patients per clinic and 3 procedures per surgical session. Perform a wide range of neurosurgical procedures (spinal fusions, disk surgeries, laminectomies, cranial procedures, peripheral nerve surgeries, microsurgery add-ons). Conduct intraoperative and postoperative follow-up, including SICU rounds and morbidity/mortality conferences. Provide consultative services and ensure procedures are scheduled within 30 days of consult. Deliver discharge education and coordinate follow-up care. Participate in quality improvement meetings and complete QA/QI documentation. Ensure compliance with patient safety and infection control standards.
Work Schedule VA Business Hours:
8:00 AM 4:30 PM, Monday Friday.
Clinic Hours:
8:00 AM 4:30 PM.
OR Hours:
6:00 AM 2:30 PM (5 6 OR days per month).
On-Call Coverage:
6:00 PM 6:00 AM on scheduled OR days. Phone availability within 15 minutes. On-site presence within 60 minutes.
