Clinical Model & Responsibilities Provide high-quality pient care and educion using a consultive/triage-focused model, primarily serving Veterans with isoled musculoskeletal complaints and providing in-clinic injections to include corticosteroids, hyaluronic acid, and plelet-rich-plasma under ultrasound guidance. Continue collaborion with specialty programs for more complex cases: Outpient polytrauma for MSK issues with neurologic comorbidities Comprehensive pain clinic for non-operive pients requiring long-term pain management Supervise and mentor both PM&RS and orthopedic residents in a dynamic, team-oriented clinic environment. Work alongside therapy staff who are immediely available to support flexible scheduling, rapid coordinion, and efficient pient flow. Participe in acute inpient rehabilition call coverage for our 12-bed inpient unit (approximely 4-5 weeks per year, evenly distributed across faculty).
Administrive Duties:
Leadership of interdisciplinary team activities. Reviews orthopedic surgery and/or PM&R consults for medical approprieness Participes in peer reviews Maintains medical licensing and Board certificion requirements Obtains resident supervisory privileges through medical school affilie Supervision of (including but not limited to) IPU-assigned Physical and Occupional Therapy staff in collaborion with the Outpient Therapy Supervisor, PM&RS Customer service: includes responding to service concerns, completing Pient Advoce, White House or Congressional complaints
Clinical Duties:
Responds to and completes consults received for the evaluion of Physical Medicine and Rehabilition including: Performs a comprehensive, detailed, targeted, initial history and physical examinion in compliance with nional guidelines. Utilizes diagnostic point-of-care ultrasound as necessary to refine differential diagnosis and trement plan. Orders diagnostic studies such as laborory tests, X-rays, electromyography (EMG), electrocardiograms (EKGs) and other tests as approved by the supervising PM&R Physician. Consults other disciplines, as necessary, to complete the pient examinion; e.g. Occupional Therapy, Physical Therapy, neuropsychological testing, audiology and speech language phology testing, vision testing, dental evaluion, psychosocial evaluion, etc. Carries out health promotion and disease prevention activities including educion and shared decision-making. Writes Medical Orders and prescriptions for non-controlled substances, as necessary, for the care of the pient in accordance with Federal and Ste law and approval of the supervising PM&R Physician. Evaluion and trement of clinical conditions associed with the musculoskeletal system, including specialty care. Performs corticosteroid, hyaluronic acid, and plelet-rich-plasma injections and other clinic-based procedures as indiced. Call coverage of inpient rehabilition unit. Documents care provided in the Computerized Pient Record System (CPRS) in accordance with South Texas Veterans Health Care System requirements. Documents the detailed, targeted, initial history and physical examinion required for evaluion in the electronic tool(s) required by VA. Provides educion and counseling of pients and families in preventive care, medical conditions, and the use of prescribed trements and drugs.

Podirist Basic Requirements Educion :
Degree as a doctor of podiric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Approved schools are United Stes schools of podiric medicine approved by the Council on Podiry Educion of the American Podiry Associion in the year in which the degree was granted. ~AND~
Residency:
Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certificion. VA Podirists involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty stus.
Approved residencies are:
(1) Those approved by the accrediting bodies for gradue medical educion, the Council on Podiric Medical Educion, in the list published for the year the residency was completed, or (2) Other residencies and training experiences, or their equivalents, which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with approprie professional training. ~AND~
License:
Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiry in a Ste, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United Stes or in the District of Columbia.
Preferred Experience:
Board certified in PM&R; Subspecialty certificion or fellowship completion in sports or spine medicine. 1 year of prior experience in a fast-paced, high-volume musculoskeletal outpient practice model. 1 year of prior supervisory experience. Prior experience in interdisciplinary clinic or program development and management.
