The Chief, Anesthesia is responsible for the following: Works with the Section Chiefs/supervisors to develop policies and guidelines reling to anesthesia and pain management and the administrion of anesthesia and pain management. Chairs Committee with Surgical representive. Negoties and coordines with non-surgical specialty services for block time allocion. Recommend privileges for anesthesiologists, CRNA's and pain management providers. Discusses anesthesia and pain management events and document in SIPRC meetings. Recommend to the hospital administrion and medical staff the types and amounts of equipment and resources th are needed for administering anesthesia and pain management. Develop anesthesia and pain management safety rules th follow regulions and standards regarding the safe administrion of anesthetics and pain management therapies. Establish/maintain a program of continuing evaluion for staff CRNAs, anesthesiologists and pain management providers. Participes in the Medical Center's program of continuing educion and VHA TMS training. Provides consultion regarding the scheduling of pients for surgery and pain management therapies reling to time and place or if a conflict in scheduling occurs. Coordines with the Surgery Service Line and Nursing Service Line to ensure th staffing resources, space and equipment are appropriely alloced daily to maintain opering room functions and non-opering room procedural locions. Oversees OR Central Scheduling and interfaces with surgical nurse coordinors to ensure OR space and time are properly alloced daily.Work Schedule:

Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certificion. VA Podirists involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty stus.Approved residencies are:
(1) Those approved by the accrediting bodies for gradue medical educion, the Council on Podiric Medical Educion, in the list published for the year the residency was completed, or (2) Other residencies and training experiences, or their equivalents, which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with approprie professional training. ~AND~License :
Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiry in a Ste, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United Stes or in the District of Columbia.Preferred Experience:
