POSITION
School Psychologist
JOB DESCRIPTION
The School Psychologist provides services to general education students and students with disabilities; develops individual case studies of students to determine eligibility for programs; assists in the development of behavior support plans and functional behavior assessments; consults with school personnel, parents, and others concerned with the progress of students; supports with implementation of signature practices and key features of the charter; and provides both individual and group counseling for general education students and students with disabilities. Integrates program to fit a fully inclusive special education program.

RESPONSIBILITIES
: Assessment, Data-Based Decision-Making, Accountability Conduct psychological assessments to determine educational needs, learning characteristics, and social behavior relevant to educational placement and instructional planning. Conduct special education evaluations to inform eligibility, service, and programming decisions. Contribute to school-wide assessment and data analysis for academic, social-emotional, and behavioral support Interpret the findings of individual case studies to the IEP team. Assist with the identification of students who will receive support in improving their attendance record Regularly review and assess data and trends related to student enrollment, attendance, behavior support, academic achievement and progress. Work alongside office staff to interpret information relating to attendance patterns and identify key areas of concern Participate in
COST/MTSS
for progress monitoring and data-based decisions regarding intervention practices for academic, social-emotional, and behavioral domains for general education students. Academic and Instructional Supports to Develop Academic and Social Emotional Skills Assist in developing a written individual educational plan for students who are determined eligible for special education placement and/or service; assists in developing recommendations regarding eligibility, and program placement. Counsels students individually and in groups to assist them in educational achievement and personal or social adjustment. Monitor student attendance and academic progress to support early identification and intervention with at-risk students Assist with implementing school-wide social-emotional programs (Way of Council). Contributes to crisis response and intervention practices Consultation and Collaboration Engage in consultation and collaboration with school staff, parents, community agencies and providers Participate in the process required by state, SELPA and school for the identification, placement, and review/re-evaluation of students with special needs. Assist in developing behavioral objectives for individual students and student groups; suggest implementation strategies as appropriate; and confer with teachers and parents regarding intervention strategies Participates in Student Study Team meetings and the RtI process as needed. COST/MTSS
for introduction of new referrals, progress monitoring, documentation of evidence and identification of next steps for general education students. Facilitate morning and evening parent education opportunities on relevant topics to support student academic and social-emotional development Work alongside school administration and staff to promote excellent attendance and reduce levels of absence Work with groups of students and families to improve levels of attendance Facilitate Family Success Meetings to caseload students during the summer in preparation for the school year and provides goal-setting opportunities. Leadership Assist with the organization of, and serves as a leader in, staff development activities in the field of psychological services. Seek professional growth and learning opportunities to advance own knowledge and skill Advocate for student success Assist in the development of initiatives and policy in all areas related to child welfare including, but not limited to, attendance improvement, school safety, violence prevention, and pupil discipline. Facilitate morning and evening parent education opportunities on relevant topics to support student academic and social-emotional development Regular school-to-parent communication with caseload student (SWD and General Education) Follow attendance policy and send out notices as required and provide updates to staff on student attendance Conduct home visits as designated by the school when necessary Take a lead role in development of Student Leaders of Way of Council as well as facilitation of Family Councils May be required to support other district schools when needed other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
: An earned Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, AND o An earned Master's degree in School Psychology from a regionally accredited university, OR o Current enrollment in a School Psychology Master's degree program in a regionally accredited university with Internship eligibility. Certifications One of the following California credentials or combination of credentials authorizing K-12 service must be in force and on file. o General Pupil Personnel Services Credential authorizing service as a school psychologist; o Service Credential with a specialization in pupil personnel services designating service as a school psychologist; o School Psychologist Credential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics Knowledge of the growth and development of children and adolescents, learning theory, and mental health concepts. Sensitivity to, and understanding of, the unique differences and needs of students with disabilities and their parents. Knowledge of uses and limitations of standardized individual and group tests, and semi-projective devices. Ability to assume leadership in teacher/staff development activities. Understanding of the relationship between the general education program as well as counseling and psychological services. Be prepared to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the school, surrounding community and target client populations Strong written and oral communication skills Interpersonal and human relation skills and the ability to develop positive working relationships with colleagues and students Ability to work effectively with District personnel, authorizers and SELPA representatives, and community representatives.
