Position Summary:
The School Psychologist will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students. This position involves conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations, providing counseling and crisis intervention, developing and implementing intervention plans, and collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to create a supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Special Education Support:
Assist in completing the Special Education domain and eligibility process. Serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative at Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings. Conduct diagnostic psychological testing and write comprehensive social-developmental histories. Develop and write measurable IEP goals and provide direct counseling services to students.
Intervention and Counseling:
Assist teams in developing and implementing effective Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for both General Education and Special Education students. Write initial 504 Plans and provide ongoing case management. Provide intervention assistance to students, families, and staff, addressing academic, social, and emotional needs. Implement evidence-based group counseling curriculum. Provide classroom-based interventions/presentations in collaboration with teachers.
Collaboration and Consultation:
Provide consultation services to the Student Services team, teachers, and administrators. Collaborate with the Dean of Students to create and implement intervention plans. Lead an intervention team comprising counselors, case managers, and administrators.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist in coordinating post-secondary transition support for students. Serve as the building Homeless Liaison, in conjunction with the Associate Principal for Student Services (APSS). Follow directives of the Special Education Division Head and the Associate Principal for Student Services.
Qualifications:
Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Psychologist endorsement. Master's, Educational Specialist, or Doctorate degree in School Psychology. Strong background in psychological testing and measurement. Demonstrated experience in counseling and crisis intervention. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with parents, students, and staff. Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with special education requirements. Knowledge of current special education laws and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with a diverse student population. Experience in a high school setting. Language skills in Spanish or Polish strongly preferred. Salary information is available on the District 214 website
