Job Summary:
The Psychologist is a part of the multidisciplinary team responsible for providing direct clinical services to patients and their families with most emphasis on completing Psychological Testing for Autism Spectrum Disorder and related neurodevelopmental conditions, providing individual, group and family consultation and intervention (including Treatment Planning sessions) for neurodiverse patients (primarily 0-18 years); facilitating psycho-educational training and family meetings when clinically-indicated; assisting in program development; developing, implementing, and reviewing Treatment Plans; and providing linkage to outside resources.
Essential Responsibilities:
Conduct psychological components of inter-disciplinary team (developmental pediatrician, speech therapist, occupational therapist, psychologist) evaluation for children with concerns for developmental delays and Autism Spectrum Disorder (including administration of all modules of the ADOS diagnostic evaluation, common early developmental cognitive measures, common early developmental adaptive measures, and other standardized evaluation tools as determined by individual patient needs). Write diagnostic reports that include clear case conceptualization, diagnostic determinations, and treatment-planning recommendations for children assessed in the inter-disciplinary developmental pediatrics clinic or in psychologist-only evaluations. Review outside diagnostic evaluation reports to assist with treatment-planning and next steps for children, conducting treatment planning sessions when appropriate. Administer, score, and interpret psychological tests that inform diagnosis and treatment of assigned patients as predicated by need/role. Provides clinical supervision to pre-doctoral psychology interns, postdoctoral psychology fellows, and other mental health trainees or medical residents as necessary. Provide short-term consultation and/or intervention to neurodiverse children and their families. Conduct psychoeducational classes and groups for neurodiverse children and their families. Provide individual and family support and engage them in treatment plan and decision-making process with respect to patient rights, principles of confidentiality, respect for patient privacy and right to self-determination. Is knowledgeable of current clinical conditions, methods, medications, theoretical frameworks, and interventions. Utilizes best practices in delivery of behavioral health services in accordance with professional, clinical and KP guidelines. Utilizes evidence-based interventions and modalities with sound theoretical base. Provide virtual consultation (e-consult advice) to medical and mental health providers with questions about caring for adult patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Collaborate with clinical staff and patient/family to develop and execute systems-based, family-centered care plans and goals. Assist patient, family, social relationships, medical staff, and teammates with care coordination, problem solving and goal setting. Provide patient and family education effectively and sensitively to encourage compliance with medical and therapeutic treatment recommendations. Promote empowerment of patient in self-management of disease. Determine and manage appropriate levels of care and service for patients using clinical knowledge, established guidelines and psychiatric consultation. Provide consultation for complex situations to providers, staff and contract agencies in caring for patients. Continuously assess, evaluate, and record patient response to interventions. Practice within scope of practice parameters as inferred by licensure, knowledge, skill level, sound clinical judgment, and KP guidelines. Provide an integrated approach to assessment and intervention for patients having difficulty managing their health due to physical health conditions/chronic disease, psychological, behavioral, cognitive, and/or social factors. Maintain high level of clinical expertise. Accurately document patient data, actions or interventions, responses, and plans for care/follow-up according to KP guidelines and standards for practice. Collaborate to build strong, effective relationships with referrers and their staff to assist in development and communication of plans for co-management of patients and their transition across care settings. Lead or participate in interdisciplinary team meetings. Provide consultation and training to other members of the care team in the area of mental health, neurodevelopmental differences, and/or ASD as indicated. Accurately identify and prioritize high risk cases providing crisis intervention services as needed; determines appropriateness of hospitalization; assesses patients potential for lethality. In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors and principles defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives. Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to purchasers, contracted providers, and vendors. Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Experience Minimum two (2) years post-doctoral practice experience which includes specialized training and experience assessing for Autism Spectrum Disorder and associated neurodevelopmental conditions in children 0-18 years. Minimum two (2) years of experience in administering and scoring all modules of the most current version of the ADOS and experience in administering and scoring common childhood cognitive, behavioral, and adaptive assessment measures. Education Doctorate degree in Psychology or related behavioral health field. License, Certification, Registration Psychologist License (Colorado) required at hire National Provider Identifier required at hire
