About the
Role:
The Psychometrist plays a critical role in the mental health field by administering and scoring neuropsychological and psychological tests that assist clinicians in diagnosing and treating various cognitive, emotional, and behavioral conditions. This position requires meticulous attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results, which directly impact patient care and treatment planning. The Psychometrist collaborates closely with psychologists, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals to interpret test data and contribute to comprehensive clinical assessments. Through effective communication and patient interaction, the Psychometrist helps create a supportive environment that facilitates accurate testing and meaningful results. Ultimately, this role supports the broader goal of improving patient outcomes by providing essential data that informs individualized treatment strategies. The client population for this position is Pediatrics and therefore, the ideal candidate will have experience working with ages 18yrs and younger. In our Lake Forest, IL location.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related field. Certification or training in psychometric testing and neuropsychological assessment. Experience administering and scoring psychological and neuropsychological tests. Strong understanding of mental health concepts and clinical assessment procedures. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and clinical staff.Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related discipline. Experience working in a clinical or hospital setting. Familiarity with behavior modification techniques and individual counseling principles. Knowledge of stress management strategies and their application in clinical assessments. Certification from recognized psychometrist professional organizations.Responsibilities:
Administer standardized neuropsychological and psychological tests to patients in accordance with established protocols. Score and interpret test results accurately, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. Collaborate with clinical teams to integrate test findings into comprehensive patient assessments and treatment plans. Maintain detailed records of assessments and prepare reports summarizing test outcomes for clinical use. Provide clear and compassionate communication to patients regarding testing procedures and address any concerns to reduce anxiety.Skills:
The Psychometrist utilizes mental health knowledge and psychological assessment skills daily to administer and interpret complex neuropsychological tests accurately. Effective communication skills are essential for explaining procedures to patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care. Stress management techniques help the Psychometrist maintain a calm and supportive environment, which is crucial for obtaining valid test results. Behavior modification understanding aids in recognizing patient responses during assessments and contributes to tailored clinical recommendations.
