Full Job Description Job Summary:
The School Psychologist will provide comprehensive psychological services to students, including assessment, consultation, and direct intervention. They will collaborate with staff, parents, and community agencies to support student success and contribute to a positive learning environment. Additionally, they will actively participate in the Child Study Team, 504 plan development and case management, and engage in data-driven decision-making to promote effective interventions.
Job Responsibilities:
Professional Responsibilities Ethical and professional standards as set forth by the NASP Principles for Professional Ethics Attend and actively participate on the Child Study Team in each building to help in planning for children with unique needs. Participate in a professional community and engage in professional development activities. 504 case management Maintain caseload for counseling services Serve on school and/or district committees Other responsibilities as assigned by building or district administration. Assessment and Evaluation Screen and evaluate a child's needs, strengths and weaknesses via observation, interviews, tests, etc. Support parents and guide staff through the evaluation and IEP process. 504 evaluation, plan development, and case management Conduct functional behavioral assessments to determine necessary behavior supports which may or may not include a formalized behavior intervention plan. Consultation and Collaboration Provide consultation and training to teachers, parents, and other school staff on topics such as behavior management, classroom interventions, and crisis interventions. Consult with administrators regarding needed educational programs for children with special needs. Direct Services Provide educationally relevant direct services to selected students Provide resources relevant to specific crisis interventions Data Collection and Analysis Facilitate Multi Tiered Systems of Support process Utilize data to inform decision making and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed. Meet federal and state timelines and mandates as well as local policies in performance of their duties. Activities may include Individualized Education Program (IEP) development, Medicaid billing, report writing, service logs, and treatment plan/therapy log development. Parent and Community Engagement Collaborate with parents to provide support and additional resources Collaborate with community agencies to provide support and additional resources
Minimum Requirements:
Illinois Professional Educator License with School Psychologist Endorsement Master's degree with a major in psychology or school psychology
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel materials. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
