Health Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance 401(k) Paid Time Off Continuing Education Support Professional Development Opportunities Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Competency Restoration Program Manager to lead and oversee a jail-based competency restoration program serving individuals involved in the criminal justice system. This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of forensic mental health services while ensuring compliance with legal, clinical, and organizational standards. The Program Manager will provide clinical leadership, supervise forensic mental health staff, coordinate care with community and state partners, conduct forensic evaluations, and ensure the effective operation of competency restoration services. This role requires strong leadership skills, expertise in forensic psychology, and the ability to collaborate with courts, correctional staff, and multidisciplinary treatment teams. Essential ResponsibilitiesProgram Leadership & Management Develop, implement, and oversee jail-based competency restoration and forensic mental health services. Coordinate continuity of care with state hospitals, community providers, and criminal justice partners. Monitor program effectiveness and implement quality improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, contractual requirements, and organizational policies. Clinical Oversight Provide clinical direction and consultation to forensic services staff. Supervise mental health professionals, paraprofessionals, and student interns. Review treatment plans and programming to ensure clinical appropriateness and effectiveness. Ensure adherence to professional ethics and evidence-based practices. Forensic Evaluations & Court Services Conduct court-ordered forensic evaluations and assessments. Prepare forensic reports, recommendations, and documentation for judicial review. Provide expert testimony and professional opinions in court proceedings as requested. Collaborate with attorneys, judges, correctional staff, and other stakeholders regarding patient competency and restoration progress. Compliance & Reporting Monitor admission and discharge timelines to ensure compliance with legal requirements. Maintain, compile, and analyze forensic program data. Develop reports and presentations regarding program outcomes and operational performance. Ensure accurate and timely documentation in accordance with professional and regulatory standards. Team Collaboration Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings. Foster collaborative relationships with correctional administration, healthcare staff, and external agencies. Support staff training, professional development, and program implementation efforts. Additional Responsibilities Adhere to organizational standards, policies, and procedures. Maintain professional conduct and effective working relationships. Perform additional duties as assigned to support behavioral health operations. QualificationsEducation Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or Psy.
D.) in Psychology or a closely related field required. Licensure Current, unrestricted Psychologist license in the state of employment required. Experience Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a forensic, correctional, or criminal justice behavioral health setting preferred. Experience conducting forensic evaluations and providing court testimony strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership and program management experience preferred. Additional Requirements Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances. Successful completion of background investigation and any required pre-employment screenings. Preferred Skills Expertise in forensic psychology and competency restoration services Knowledge of criminal justice and behavioral health systems Strong leadership and staff supervision abilities Experience with court-ordered evaluations and expert testimony Program development and quality improvement experience Excellent written communication and report-writing skills Strong organizational and analytical abilities Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, or move up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl as needed. Ability to maintain physical and emotional stamina during stressful situations. Ability to sit, type, read, and work on a computer for extended periods. Work Environment This position is located within a correctional setting. While security personnel maintain safety and security operations, employees may encounter verbal or physical confrontations with incarcerated individuals. Employees may also be exposed to communicable diseases and other healthcare-related risks. The role may require periodic travel to other facilities or locations and participation in site-specific on-call responsibilities. Frequent standing, walking, presenting, and interaction with multidisciplinary teams may be required.
