Job Description

Position:
School Psychologist - Long term substitute, May - November 2026
Reports To:
Principal and PPS Director Work Year Days:
School calendar
Work Hours:
Tahanto schedule in accordance with teacher contract
Responsibilities:
Screen and evaluate referred children including selecting appropriate instruments, administering tests, observations, and writing reports which state the evaluation findings and provide for educational program recommendations. Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and the individualized education program (IEP) teams, contributing evaluation findings and collaborating on the childs educational plan. Consult on and provide individual and group services to children and/or parents that emphasize improved educational performance and/or conduct. Provide collaborative consultation and documentation of results including assisting general education staff with suggestions and implementation of tiered interventions. Provide direct services through a variety of methods (e.g. classroom presentations, co-teaching in general education settings, in-services to staff/parents, etc.) as needed. Maintain appropriate data on students to document current levels of performance and other pertinent information. Re-evaluate, as appropriate, to determine extent of progress and effectiveness of therapy. Establish and monitor the necessary caseloads, procedures, and resources to manage school psychologist services to students/staff and work cooperatively to accomplish the goals of the IEP. Adhere to the ethical standards and codes of the profession and to the established rules, regulations, and laws governing special education programs. Participate in activities that promote professional development and use clinical/educational research to enhance therapy services. Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development and keep current with literature, new research findings, and improved techniques. Writes educational plans and progress reports for students with disabilities. Performs any additional duties as directed by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services. Evaluates and attends out-of-district TEAM Evaluation meetings when necessary and review programs for students with disabilities as determined by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services.
Required Qualifications:
Appropriate Certification by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Experience working with students in a school setting
