Job Description

  • Overview
  • The Psychologist I (Bilingual
  • Spanish) will provide psychological assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and/or treatment services for outpatient clients at the Center for Autism Services, Science and Innovation (CASSI).
The incumbent may also provide training to parents, paraprofessionals and professionals. Primary clinical responsibilities will be for patients aged 2 through young adult. This position requires the incumbent to be bilingual in English and Spanish with a proficiency level that meets the Institutes minimum standards.
  • Responsibilities
  • 1.
Select, administer, and score diagnostic and/or psychological tests assessing the presence of autism as well as neurodevelopmental disabilities (such as intellectual disability) and co-occurring psychiatric conditions. 2. Interpret assessment results based on current research in psychological assessment and available evidence-based approaches. 3. Write comprehensive diagnostic and psychological assessment reports including diagnostic interpretations and next step management/strategy plans. 4. Provide interpretative information to parents and/or primary caregivers (including teachers, and therapists) utilizing a strengths-based framework. 5. Provide empirically-based, neurodiversity-affirming care in individual, parent-mediated, and group therapy formats based on program needs and clinician training. This may include behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and associated therapeutic approaches as appropriate to the needs of the patient. 6. Enter psychological testing and diagnostic reports, progress notes, treatment plans, termination reports, and patient correspondence in Epic, and enter test data into the department database. Submit documents in an accurate and timely manner, in accordance with Institute and program guidelines. Complete administrative paperwork required by the Institute, discipline, and/or department. 7. Participate in case conferences and interdisciplinary staff meetings to discuss and evaluate the diagnoses and treatment/management of patients. 8. Maintain familiarity with Maryland state laws as well as the laws and ethical guidelines defined by the credentialing board with respect to patient confidentiality, conflicting interests, reporting of abuse, patient termination, and supervision of psychology associates. 9. Design and conduct presentations nationally, regionally, and locally. 10. Maintain productivity and reporting standards as determined by the department.

  • QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must possess and maintain licensure as a psychologist in Maryland.
  • Must obtain and maintain psychology privileges as a specified professional member of the Kennedy Krieger Institute Medical Staff.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish with a proficiency level that meets the Institutes minimum standards
  • Advanced Low for bilingual clinicians.
Able to speak Spanish fluently with ease and confidence in a variety of topics related to work, home, leisure activities, as well as events of current, public or personal interest or individual relevance. Able to convey intended message with accuracy, clarity and precision without misrepresentation or confusion while being readily understood by native speakers.
EDUCATION
  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA
  • or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA
  • accredited doctoral program required.
  • Completion of an APA
  • or CPA-accredited doctoral internship in health service psychology required.
EXPERIENCE
Experience working with children with developmental disabilities required. This experience may be satisfied through predoctoral and/or postdoctoral training in psychology.
