School Psychologist Job Summary :
School Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological services to students, families, and staff. This role focuses on supporting student success through evaluation, consultation, and the implementation of data-driven academic and behavioral interventions within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.Qualifications:
Certification:
Master's Degree in School Psychology, valid State of Michigan Department of Education certification/license as a School Psychologist.Internship:
Completion of a supervised internship in School Psychology (minimum 750 hours preferred, or as required by state mandate).Professionalism:
Strong commitment to ethical practice.Primary Responsibilities:
Evaluation & Identification:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations to determine eligibility for Special Education services under state and federal mandates-IDEA.
- Interpret complex quantitative and qualitative data to provide actionable recommendations for Individualized Education Programs Plans (IEPs), and for strategic planning and ongoing continuous improvement processes.
Consultation & Collaboration:
- Serves as a member of the Individual Educational Planning Team to assist in the determination of eligibility, placement, and development of the Individualized Educational Plan.
- Demonstrate foundational knowledge of a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS), this includes participation in problem-solving teams and requires knowledge of data collection and analysis, curriculum-based assessments and tiered systems of interventions.
- Provide consultation to teachers, parents, and administrators regarding classroom management, learning strategies, behavioral and academic intervention plans.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required:
- Knowledge and skills commonly used in psychological evaluation and consultation including the understanding and ability to determine the eligibility of Specific Learning Disability using a Response to Intervention approach.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form to multiple audiences.
- Knowledge of the requirements of state and federal mandates which directly relate to the evaluation and identification of a student with a disability.
- Strong analytical skills are required to correctly analyze, interpret and report quantitative and qualitative data.
- Demonstrated understanding of the logic and application of an MTSS model and the continuum of behavior and academic support at all levels.
- Expertise in assessment including curriculum-based assessment measurement and diagnostic practices.
- Ability to collect, analyze and use data and research within a strategic planning and continuous improvement process and/or intervention planning.
