Job Description
Clinical responsibilities include providing psychological evaluations and brief treatment for outpatients utilizing the Primary Care Behavioral Health Model in the Academic Family Medicine Primary Care GROW (Generational Resilience Opportunity and Wellness) clinic. Reasons for consultation requests include depression, anxiety, pain management, weight management, adjustment to life stressors, nonadherence with medical regimens, substance use, suicidal ideation, psychosis, disruptive behaviors, and autism diagnostic evaluation. Most of these patients also have co-occurring chronic illnesses. Consults are typically received with the "warm-handoff" model from the patients' primary care physicians. It is expected that the psychologist will implement team-based population health approaches to address behavioral health issues that impact chronic disease management. The psychologist will collaborate with all clinic providers in patient care. There are also opportunities for group therapy and other program development. The psychologist will also have the opportunity to provide supervision for psychology trainees (i.e., psychology interns and/or fellows) on the service. In addition to the clinical responsibilities, the psychologist will be expected to engage in educational activities for psychology trainees, medical residents, and staff. Research activities are highly encouraged.
