Job Description 1.
THERAPY/COUNSELING SERVICES.
Design, plan and provide individual and group counseling to meet specific client needs. Provide crisis/triage counseling on a rotating basis during established crisis/walk-in hours. Guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for managing mental health and wellness concerns. Refer students to campus or community resources, as necessary. Select appropriate treatment plans which may include collaboration with a student's current therapist. Monitor, access, and review client records, and document all services within the electronic health record system. Conduct assessments to be used in developing a plan that can assist students in achieving their educational goals. Maintain and follow FERPA, HIPAA, and other professional standards and guidelines pertaining to the management of mental health records and confidentiality procedures. Serve as a confidential campus resource as it relates to Title IX and WSU's Conduct, Advocacy, Relationships, & Experiences (CARE) Intervention Team. 2.PROGRAMMING.
Develop, plan and provide educational programs, individually or in collaboration with other staff and faculty, based on current research, trends, and data on mental health topics to campus community regarding mental health issues. Keep current mental health information and resources available to students, staff and faculty via the college website, brochures, and outreach at campus functions and in classrooms. Participate in various resource fairs on and off campus, orientation, admissions events, classroom workshops and more to promote and inform the campus community of resources. Serve as a campus-lead on areas of student mental well-being. Develop and maintain relationships with campus and community partners and resources. 3.COLLABORATION.
Participate in department meetings and case consultation to ensure collaborative decision-making, continuity of care, and adherence to best practices in mental health services. Provide work direction and supervision for mental health interns. Work with Campus Security or local law enforcement to conduct welfare checks when appropriate. Maintain collaborative relationships with partners across campus, providing education, guidance, and resources on mental health related matters to staff and faculty as needed. 4. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner. These duties include but are not limited to professional development, participation on university committees, task forces, and workgroups, involvement in campus events, and staying current with trends and best practices in the field. Minimum Qualifications One (1) year of experience as a licensed professional counselor, psychologist, therapist or LICSW in a college/university environment or in a private, or public practice. Valid Minnesota license in Licensed Psychologist (LP), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) by date of hire. Experienced in providing individual and group therapy services to diverse clients. Knowledge of crisis intervention methods and practices that are trauma informed. A Psychotherapist check will be completed in accordance with Minnesota Statutes Chapter 604.2, prior to hire. Must be eligible for credentialing with multiple health insurance carriers in the event billing for services is implemented. Preferred Qualification Master's degree in counseling, clinical psychology, or social work. Doctorate in counseling, clinical psychology, or social work. Experience working in a higher education environment Experience supporting students from traditionally marginalized and underrepresented populations.
