School Psychologist Hudson Montessori School - 4.5 Jersey City, NJ Job Details Part-time $50 an hour 4 hours ago Qualifications Certified School Psychologist Group therapy Individual therapy Working with children Case management Full Job Description Overview We are seeking a part time dedicated and compassionate School Psychologist to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive psychological services to students, supporting their academic, emotional, and behavioral development. This role involves conducting assessments, developing intervention strategies, and collaborating with educators, families, and healthcare professionals to promote positive student outcomes. The School Psychologist will play a vital role in fostering a safe and supportive learning environment for children with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities and neurodivergent challenges. Responsibilities Conduct psychological assessments, including diagnostic evaluations and psychological testing, to identify student needs and inform intervention plans. Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in collaboration with educators, parents, and other specialists. Provide individual and group counseling sessions focusing on child & family counseling, behavioral health, social skills, and crisis intervention. Design and oversee behavior management plans and safety plans tailored to students' specific requirements. Offer crisis management support for students experiencing emotional or behavioral crises, ensuring immediate safety and appropriate follow-up. Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop effective classroom strategies that support students with disabilities or behavioral challenges. Assist in early intervention efforts by conducting intake assessments and coordinating case management services. Maintain accurate medical documentation, medical records, and reports in compliance with legal standards. Work closely with families to provide guidance on social work issues, conflict management, and behavioral health concerns. Support staff training on topics such as applied behavior analysis (ABA), working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism, and other specialized interventions. Qualifications Valid school psychology certification/license required. Proven experience working within educational settings or related fields such as special education or social work. Strong knowledge of child & family counseling, crisis intervention, diagnostic evaluation, IEP development, and behavioral health strategies. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical documentation practices, and psychological testing procedures. Experience working with individuals with disabilities—including developmental disabilities and autism—is highly preferred. Excellent communication skills for collaborating effectively with students, families, educators, and healthcare professionals. Ability to manage crisis situations calmly and efficiently while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Commitment to promoting inclusive education through evidence-based practices like applied behavior analysis (ABA) and behavior management techniques.
