Job Description

LMHC Limited Permit HolderSchool Refusal, Behavioral Assessment, and Child & Family Counseling Join a Growing Multidisciplinary Team Dedicated to Helping Children and Families Thrive We are seeking compassionate, motivated, and career-focused LMHC Limited Permit Holders to join our expanding clinical team. This supervised position offers a unique opportunity to gain extensive experience providing counseling, behavioral assessment, and intervention services to children, adolescents, and families in school, home, and community settings. This is an ideal position for clinicians who want to build expertise in both traditional counseling and behavioral intervention while working toward New York State licensure under the supervision of experienced Licensed Mental Health Counselors. Clinical Focus Areas A significant emphasis of this position is the assessment and treatment of school refusal, school avoidance, anxiety, and related behavioral challenges. Clinicians will receive training and supervision in evidence-based approaches, including: School refusal assessment and intervention Anxiety treatment and emotional regulation strategies Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) Parent coaching and family support Collaboration with schools and educational teams Reintegration planning and school attendance support Behavioral Assessment & Intervention Training In addition to counseling services, clinicians will have the opportunity to develop valuable behavioral assessment and intervention skills, including: Conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) Learning to develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) Collecting and analyzing behavioral data Progress monitoring and treatment evaluation Identifying environmental and behavioral variables affecting student success Collaborating with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and educational teams Utilizing data to inform treatment and intervention decisions Responsibilities Provide individual counseling services to children and adolescents Deliver parent counseling, coaching, and support services Provide school-based and home-based counseling to address social, emotional, and behavioral concerns Implement interventions targeting school refusal, anxiety, and emotional regulation Conduct clinical assessments and contribute to treatment planning Participate in Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) development Collect, monitor, and analyze behavioral and clinical data Deliver social skills training and therapeutic interventions Collaborate with families, teachers, school personnel, and multidisciplinary providers Maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with professional and regulatory standards Participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development activities What We Offer Weekly supervision by Licensed Mental Health Counselors (fulfilling New York State licensure requirements) Specialized training in school refusal treatment and intervention Training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) Hands-on experience conducting FBAs and developing BIPs Experience with data collection, behavioral analysis, and progress monitoring Opportunities to work alongside BCBAs and multidisciplinary educational teams Ongoing professional development and mentorship A supportive and collaborative clinical environment Competitive compensation Opportunities for long-term professional growth and advancement Qualifications Current New York State LMHC Limited Permit Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling or a closely related field Passion for working with children, adolescents, and families Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Interest in learning behavioral assessment and intervention strategies Commitment to ethical, evidence-based, and client-centered care Why Join Us?
