WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors Epilepsy Clinical Services:
Presurgical epilepsy candidates (resective surgery, laser ablation, neuromodulation) Patients undergoing intracranial EEG monitoring Differential diagnosis (epilepsy vs. non-epileptic events) 2. Assess cognitive domains including memory, language, executive function, attention, visuospatial skills, and processing speed. 3. Evaluate mood, behavioral, and psychosocial functioning. 4. Provide cognitive risk assessment and outcome counseling for epilepsy surgery. 5. Participate in Wada testing and/or functional mapping interpretation when applicable. 6. Conduct postoperative cognitive outcome evaluations and longitudinal follow-up
Dementia & Cognitive Neurology Services:
Perform comprehensive evaluations for: Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) Alzheimer's disease and related dementias Frontotemporal and other atypical neurodegenerative syndromes Assist in differential diagnosis between neurodegenerative, psychiatric, vascular, and epilepsy-related cognitive disorders. Provide longitudinal cognitive monitoring.
Offer counseling and education to patients and families regarding diagnosis, prognosis, and cognitive management strategies.
Neuro-Oncology Services:
Conduct baseline and follow-up neuropsychological assessments for patients with: Primary brain tumors Metastatic brain lesions Treatment-related cognitive changes (radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy) Assist in presurgical functional risk assessment for tumor resections. Monitor cognitive effects of neurosurgical and oncologic treatments.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
Participate in epilepsy surgery conferences, tumor boards, and cognitive case conferences. Collaborate with epileptologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, psychiatrists, oncologists, and rehabilitation specialists. Integrate neuropsychological findings into treatment planning and surgical decision-making. Contribute to neuromodulation and advanced therapeutic planning (RNS, DBS, VNS). Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications PhD Required or Doctor of Psychology Completion of an accredited internship Required Completion of a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology (epilepsy, dementia, or neuro-oncology experience preferred Required Experience with neuropsychological evaluation and management of patients with dementia and neurodegenerative disorders, as well as individuals with primary or secondary brain tumors (neuro-oncology). Psychologist - New York State Board of Psychology Licensed or license-eligible in New York State. Required or
