Renders clinical psychology to individuals, couples, and groups to enhance mental health and sports performance. Provides counseling services to student-athletes to enhance personal, academic, and athletic success. Consults with student-athletes, coaches, and Athletics Department staff members about student-athletes that require psychological counseling as needed. Assists when needed in providing Alcohol/Substance Use and Abuse counseling services to student-athletes in accordance with the Athletics Department Substance Abuse Policy. Conducts LD/ADHD screenings and coordinates with Athletics Department Academic Services Staff as needed.CONSULTATION
Provides consultation services to coaches and Athletic Department staff members.ADMINISTRATION
Engages in counseling related activities including, but not limited to, maintaining counseling records, administering and interpreting psychological test/inventories, making referrals, and managing various organizational and administrative aspects of counseling cases. Assists the Director of Counseling and Sport Psychology, Assistant Director of Counseling and Sport Psychology, Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine, and Director of the Student Counseling Service (SCS) with organizational and administrative tasks when appropriate and as requested.SUPERVISION
May provide supervision for TAMU masters and doctoral degree graduate students in Counseling and Educational Counseling Psychology and adjunct supervision for SCS doctoral interns. Engages in applied research and evaluation activities pertaining to the functions of Athletics Department Counseling and Sport Psychology Services and the SCS, as well as one's own professional specialty area(s). Publishes or otherwise disseminates the results of research and evaluation efforts when appropriate. Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules and regulations concerning student-athletes: conduct, appearance, road games, punctuality, and other areas as deemed appropriate.CRISIS INTERVENTION
Provides daytime, evening, and weekend crisis intervention services as needed.COMMITTEES
Serves on Athletics Department, SCS, and University committees as appropriate and approved by the Director. Attends Athletics Department, Division of Student Affairs, and University meetings as appropriate. Represents the Athletics Department and the SCS at University and other functions as appropriate and as requestedPRESENTATIONS
Provides presentations for student-athletes, coaches, and Athletic Department staff members as requested by the Director or the groups (presentations will focus on counseling services, programs, and organization).COMPLIANCE
Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations. Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules and regulations for all staff members and student workers supervised.Qualifications Required Education & Experience:
Doctoral program in counseling or clinical psychology. Minimum of 550 clinical/direct contact hours. At least one practicum in a university/college counseling center setting. One year of clinical experience.Preferred Qualifications:
Working toward Licensure as a Psychologist.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.Other Requirements and Factors:
Minimum full time (12 month) position in a large university counseling center with an American Psychological -Association (APA) accredited pre-doctoral internship.
