Benefits may vary based upon position type and/or level. Job Summary The Psychometrist 3 performs duties in administering and scoring psychological and neuropsychological tests. This is done under a Psychologist's direction and follows established policies. This position also provides guidance, mentorship, and training to junior Psychometrists and students. Essential Functions of the Role Provides input to clinical psychologists in the selection of test to be administered. Trouble shoots difficult testing situations. Administers one-on-one psychological tests in a controlled environment. Measures clinical factors like rational functioning, organic involvement, personality, psychopathology, and differential diagnosis. Scores tests using appropriate reference tables and keys; drafts test profiles. Coordinates and communicates the time and place for test administration. Ensures inpatients referred for testing are seen promptly. Explains testing procedures and priorities to patients. Works with patients to ensure compliance with protocol and procedures. Ensures appropriate test completion. Observes patients during and after testing. Records behavioral observations. Reports to the psychologist any information that may affect test validity and significance. Maintains interface with physicians, psychologists and related hospital personnel. Documents test results and keeps accurate records. Develops reports summarizing test results. Ensures confidentiality of test results and recommendations. Maintains security of testing materials. Performs interpretation of standardized tests of psychological functioning and develops reports summarizing results. Makes recommendations to the attending psychologist about retesting or additional testing. Ensures uniform test administration, accurate records, confidentiality, and security of testing materials. Participates in designing, coordinating, and conducting psychometric research. Collects, tests, and reports psychometric research data systematically. Utilizes standard protocol to present research results within the organization and for professional presentations and publications. Participates in improving organizational performance by recommending improvement areas, performing new procedures, collecting data, and providing input to departmental discussions. Provides mentorship and training to staff and students. Acclimates new neuropsychology fellows, residents and research assistants to the department. Provides clinical documentation of patient information. Key Success Factors Master's degree in psychology or a related field preferred. Knowledge of psychological and behavioral test scoring protocol, procedures and standards. Knowledge of scientific research methods, practices and protocols. Requires good verbal and written communication skill. Skilled in the administration of a wide range of standardized psychological and neuropsychological tests. Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software application. Requires good data-based, evaluative and critical thinking skills. Social skills to effectively work with a wide range of people and constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports. Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information. Ability to mentor and training subordinate personnel and students.
