Job Description

Conducts competency to stand trial and, with appropriate experience and training, may conduct sanity evaluations. Completes written reports within the required timeframe and provides court testimony relating to evaluation results as requested. Effectively interacts with judges, attorneys, and other court staff in the collection of information and collaboration on assigned cases. Conducts psychological testing including intellectual functioning evaluation as needed and provides documentation of findings from assessment instruments. Assists with the clinical supervision of master's and doctoral level practicum students. May provide clinical mental health services as needed. Provides training to justice partners, the community and other county departments as needed and within the scope of expertise. Complies with agency policies and procedures, accrediting/regulatory bodies, and documentation requirements. Performs related work as assigned. Adapts to changing work requirements. Demonstrates ethical conduct in all clinical and professional activities. Communicates and works with consumers, visitors, and other staff in a manner that demonstrates sensitivity to cultural diversities. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers. Position can be hybrid - both remote and on site.
D. in Psychology. Licensed as a Psychologist or eligibility to be licensed as a psychologist consistent with the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council. Qualifications as an expert as indicated by of Article 46B of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure. License eligible post doc will be considered. Competence in administration, scoring, and interpretation of a broad range of psychological tests (especially those intended for forensic use). Knowledge of diagnostic criteria, specific clinical features, and diagnostic nomenclature in diagnosing mental illness as well as intellectual and developmental disabilities. Clear and concise written expression skills appropriate for expert opinions in criminal legal proceedings. Strong analytical skills in considering and synthesizing information, data, and evidence from multiple sources. Strong computer and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials. Ability to complete assignments with tight deadlines.
