Job Summary:
Mary Washington Healthcare seeks a Psychometrist within the Neurosciences Service Line. This role is responsible for administering and scoring psychological and neuropsychological tests under the supervision of a licensed clinical psychologist to help with differential diagnosis, treatment planning, and determination for pre-surgical candidacy. The Psychometrist works with patients presenting with a range of cognitive, medical, and psychiatric concerns that may include, but are not limited to, Alzheimer's dementia, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, stroke, multiple sclerosis, functional neurologic disorder, and concussion/traumatic brain injury. This role includes collecting and documenting accurate test data, providing behavioral observations, and supporting the interdisciplinary team in the interpretation of results and providing meaningful information to patients and their families.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Administers the battery of psychometric tests selected by the supervising psychologist, following standards set forth in published manuals. Accurately and completely records patients' test responses and scores psychometric tests using appropriate norms. Provides detailed behavioral observations to support test interpretation. Documents clearly, concisely, and within established timeframes to support continuity of care, payer review, and reimbursement. Records evidence of patient and family/caregiver education in the medical record. Shares information and instruction with the treatment team regarding psychological and behavioral strategies relevant to patient care. Provides educational materials and community resource information appropriate to patients' and families' levels of understanding and motivation. Presents verbal reports of psychological findings in group settings (e.g., rounds) in a manner appropriate to the audience to support learning and treatment planning. Communicates collaboratively with team members, demonstrates openness to feedback, and remains adaptable to change. Completes administrative tasks that support the operating unit's program goals and regulatory requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university required; Master's degree preferred. Certification as a Psychometrist required (e.g., Certified Specialist in Psychometry [CSP], Board-Certified Psychometrist [BCP], or Certified Psychometric Technician [CPT]). Minimum of two (2) years of experience administering neuropsychological assessments preferred. Strong observation, communication, and critical thinking skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively. Knowledge of psychometric principles, including test reliability and validity.
