Job Description

Category Schools - School Psychologist Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact in students' lives by supporting their educational journey as a dedicated school psychologist. This full-time, on-site contract opportunity is situated near Portsmouth, VA, within the Virginia Beach area. With a Monday through Friday schedule and a 35-hour work week, you'll be positioned to collaborate closely with students, staff, and families—helping to foster a supportive school environment. The assignment begins August 31, 2026, and continues through June 15, 2027, with caseload and school site details to be confirmed.
Desired Qualifications:
Hold an active Virginia DOE School Psychologist license Current psychologist licensure in the state of Virginia Previous experience working with students in K-12 school settings is strongly preferred Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills Ability to adapt and provide services in varied school environments
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct psychological assessments, including cognitive, academic, and social-emotional evaluations Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop effective behavior interventions and IEPs Provide direct counseling and support services to students as needed Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, sharing your expertise and insights Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with state and federal guidelines Assist with crisis intervention and provide recommendations for student support
